Can I get my machine washed nano to work like new?

I let my machine washed nano dry for two weeks. The on/off switch doesn't work. My computer doesn't recognize it is attached. The jack for my car stereo doesn't recognize it. However, my stand alone amp/speaker system plays the music in the shuffle mode and other functions seem to work as long as it stays plugged in. Is it worth fixing and, if so, what needs to be done?

Thanks,

Thank you. I appreciate the help. I have worked on and repaired a few small objects before and this sounds like a bit of a challenge. However, I would rather give it a try than simply toss it in the trash.

Ken Schmidt, only you can determine if it is worthwhile to fix it. The first step you should do is to disassemble your iPod. Use this guide to help you out. After that clean the iPod thouroughly by following this general guide. You a high grade isopropyl alcohol. Once you are sure the logic board, connectors (do not forget the dock connector), and cables are clean replace the battery. You can get it at places like this. Once you have all this accomplished, reevaluate for any residual (if any ) damage. Remember that this model is a PITA to work on but not impossible to fix. Hope this helps you to make your determination. Good Luck.
