Identification of Carhartt Jacket Snap

I need to lengthen the sleeves my Carhartt Detroit jacket. I want to install snaps to the sleeve extensions. Carhartt sent me jacket snaps, (see attached.)

I'm familiar with regular cloth snaps and have a crimper for their installation. The snaps sent by Carhartt are different. Looking at the existing snaps on the sleeves, I assume that these snaps are set using normal die punch tools. However, I'd like to see the installation of these types of snaps.

Can anyone confirm the correct installation tool for these snaps and ideally provide a video or guide

Hi David, I'm having the same problem and I'm wondering where you found those snaps? Did you get them from Carhartt?

Michael,

Yes. I received them from Carhartt.

Would you be able to share the link or if you have spares could I possibly buy them off of you? I'm in Canada and I'm struggling to find these anywhere even on the Carhartt website. I have a really valuable jacket that is 30 years old and the only thing wrong with it is the snap.

Michael,

I would try calling them or chatting with them to get free replacements.

I tried and no response. I think its because I'm in Canada. I know this may sound outlandish but would it be possible for you to somehow get more snaps and send them to me? I would reimburse you for the full price + shipping + your time of course. Regardless thanks for your response and have a good day!

Hi @deees

Not quite how to install but here's a video that shows how to remove the snap fastener.

Unfortunately the video then goes on to show how to install a different type of snap fastener though.

It might give you an idea of what you could do.

You could use an anvil (example only) and some sort or punch e.g. small hammer, to join the inner fastener to the outer fastener

Thanks for responding. I also found that video previously. Unfortunately, I can 't seem to find an installation video.

I'll leave this thread open a little logger in the hope someone else in the Repair Community can find one, (or make one.)
