It looks like an 8-pin JST connector, if you do a google image search of just the connector you might find the same results

door

@badgerfromhell checked that and the 8pin JST is actually too big, it's smaller.

@haltwhistletg i think it's an jst sh 8-pin connector with a special key for the socket, can't find anyone selling or displaying this connector key exactly, but i do find the cable complete in abundance when i do google image searches for it, lets hope there is someone else that is a bit more savvy than me in this to give a more exact response. hope you can find what you're looking for.

door

@badgerfromhell Thanks david, I've brought cables from various sources and they are all too long, so my only option is to identify the socket, try get the some of them and resize the cable.

@haltwhistletg what is the exact model for your computer?

@haltwhistletg I actually had that one :-) Anyhow here comes the bad news. Your board is a Quanta board and they love to use Aces connectors. Your connector is actually a ACES 51483-00801 connector. Looks like a V02 ( as in version 2)

Thats helpful, least we know the port it goes into, now we need the name of the fitting for it :)

ok connection is the ACES 51484, thats basically what mates it.

https://www.acesconn.com/series/51484-xx...

now I need to find a supplier of these with terminals to sort this.

@haltwhistletg I would take the information downloaded from their site SPEC 50278 Xxxxx Xxx Rev U and double check via email with either mouser.com or digikey.com (I prefer Digikey since they actually answer in a decent manner). See if they can "hook" you up. They got a really helpful engineering department
