Upright Victrola Record Player Gets No Power- SOLVED

Thanks for if you can help me. I bought beautiful upright Victrola record player from an antique store. It was working but after a week or so it wouldn't turn on. I'm not especially handy but like to tinker. I couldn't see any obvious electrical problem or at least my first initial trouble shooting ideas didn't help.

What happened was that the orginal wires connecting the power adapter to the rest of the electronic got disconnected some how. In my earlier fiddling I accidentelly switched the red and black wires. With the help of the recommended voltometer a friend was able to help me diagnose the mistake (and tell me how a voltometer basically works.).

Thank everyone so much. It was a silly mistake but fun to figure out (once it was figured out).

@michaelgar50531 do you have an exact model or chassis number for this?

The model is VTA -25 5 in 1 Wooden Music Center

@michaelgar50531 okay that is a Vintage style "new" Victrola. Let's see if there are schematics etc. If not it'll be up to you to take it apart ;-) so we can see the wiring etc. It does sound like a power issue but we'll have to see.

Thanks for any help you can offer. Finding a the VTA 25 mentioned online is pretty hard. I think it must have gotten discontinued (maybe for this reason). But I really like the style and want to get it fixed.

@michaelgar50531 totally agree. Those are definitely nice and should be kept around. WE are usually pretty good in getting things fixed around here. Any chance you can provide some "inside" images or are you not there yet? If you can, or when you can, post images to your QUESTION. They can not be added as comments. You will hav to edit your question and add those Voeg afbeeldingen toe aan een bestaande vraag

I'm sure you've checked its plugged in and that the outlet is in good standing and there is no fraying on the chord.

Have you checked inside the unit to see about fuses? It could be a blown fuse. Here is a website with more info to help you. Use caution ⚠️ while attempting these fixes, I recommend a professional so no injuries take place. https://allforturntables.com/2023/04/11/...
