My Asus Transformer Mini quit working.

Is there any way to salvage any photos and documents I may have on it? It is flat with a kickstand. I don't see any way of taking it apart. It has a keyboard that attaches magnetically to the tablet. Thank you!

gatvabale we need to know if it is a T-102 or a T-103. You would need to remove the screen to get into. You need a heat gun (or iOpener) Properly warm up the outside edges of the screen. Once hot enough for the adhesive to become sticky and less adherent, you need to insert some thin guitar pics or similar. Pretty much the way it is shown in step 8/9 on this guide. iPad 5 Wi-Fi LCD Replacement proceed to remove the screen. The LCD ribbon cables are on the top right side, so be careful that you do not rip those with your opening tool. This is not an easy task and you will need to take your time so as to not crack the LCD.

Here comes the bad news. Both the T-102 and the T103 are using soldered eMMC storage which is soldered to the mainboard. There is really no good or easy way to remove those recover your files. You really would need to get yours up and running long enough to recover those files.

Tell us what you have tried to repair your device. Give us more history and let's see if we can help you with that.

Thank you so much O.T. (old turkey 03)! I have had problems in the past getting it to boot up after days (weeks) of inactivity. Now I am unable to use those tricks any longer to boot the machine.

At this point, it is quite likely that it has been a year or more since I have tried to boot it. I have put it on the charger, and the red light flashes, but nothing else happens. I guess if I could get it up and running, then I could possibly save everything to a flash drive. But getting it to turn (and stay on) on seems next to impossible, at this moment.

@gatvabale this "and the red light flashes" I would prompt me to at least give a new battery a try. Of course, if you have a USB ammeter, check to see if your Transfortmer Mini even tries to charge.

@oldturkey03 That is a very good point. I can look for a USB ammeter, or see if work has one I can borrow. Would I have to use the heat gun in order to replace the battery? (Pretty sure you're going to say 'yes' on that one). Thank you!

@gatvabale a heat gun would be nice, but a good hair dryer may also work. Remember that you probably need it for the display anyway.
