Asus UX533 FN hinge out of chassis and screen, can it be repaired?

Hi,

I'm here because I wanted to know if it would be possible for me to repair a laptop.

Long story short, when trying to close my laptop, its left hinge detached itself from its bottom and the screen.

In june, Asus had replace the bottom of my computer because the screen and its bottom were clicking when close and the screen was wobbly. I contacted them but I would have had to pay another diagnosis fees plus the costs of the actual repair.

Everything is working properly but I cant go around with my laptop since this could break my screen for good.

Do you think this could be repaired ? If yes, what would I need to do ?

Hi @safyras ,

Here’s a video that shows how to replace the LCD panel and hinges that may help although it only shows the hinges being unscrewed from the bottom base assembly and it looks like the hinges in your laptop are broken away from the LCD cover. The video does show how to replace the LCD panel so you can still use it to replace the LCD cover.

The hinges are part of the LCD cover and not a separately available part. There are 2 LCD covers available, Asus part # 90NB0JX2-R7A010 - silver colour and 90NB0JX1-R7A010 - black colour.

Here’s an image of the LCD cover that shows how the hinges are affixed to it

Here’s a link to a supplier that will help you to find the Asus part numbers of any other parts if needed.

In the 1st image that you posted it also appears as though the screen bezel (part #90NB0JX2-R7B010) has been broken as well.

If the hinge screw mounts in the bottom base assembly are also broken you will have to replace the base assembly as well - see the supplier link above for the part numbers Note 2S = silver, 2B = Black. This requires dis-assembling the entire laptop.

To then find a supplier of parts that suits you best, search online using the required part number only in the search term of your browser.
