My Panasonic SC-BTT350 Home Theatre system won't power up.

Two problems:

1. Most immediate problem. Library DVD inside unit. Can't remove because of power problem. I tried taking top cover off, but it would not come off after removal of 5 screws. I have tried "press and hold [¦Stop] and [CH ?Up Arrow] on the main unit at the same time for about 5 seconds." No results.

2. When I inserted the DVD, the unit went off. I suddenly got an F61 error code (F61 error apparently occurs on a Panasonic home theater system when the speaker cable wire connections are wrong.) I disconnected all speakers. F61 error went away but unit will not power on, no matter what I try. It does click when I turn it on, but no functions.

First, try following this guide to get you into the machine, then you can take the disk out.

Second, could you check

  • For any visibly blown components
  • For any bulged or leaky capacitors (see picture below)

Dear Andrew S., sorry, but the unit I am trying to fix is the Panasonic SC-BTT350 Home Theatre System. I couldn't find the SC-BTT350 so I posted the question under the SA-HT810V. It has more components than the SA-HT810V. Can you help me with the SC-BTT350? I can't even get the cover completely off! JC

@coppens1 you are right about the F61 error. Next thing you want to try is to check if you can get your Panasonic into the service mode.

To enter service mode: While the power is off, press & hold [VOL+] & [OPEN/CLOSE] button on main unit for 3 secs or more follow by [PLAY] button on main unit.

If so check the player according to this

If that does not work you will have to go by the troubleshooting for a No Power ON (without error code). Check the following

1 AC Cord 1 Faulty AC Cord,Loose connection(unlikely but have to include it)

2 AC Inlet P5701 2 P5701 soldier crack,dry joint,etc. SMPS

3 Fuse F1 fuse open P.C.B.

4 Photocoupler PC5702, PC5799 solder cracked, dry joint, short circuit, open circuit,

5 Switching IC IC5701 5 Faulty IC5701

6 Switching IC IC5799 6 Faulty IC5799

JCoppens all of the information I posted is from the SC-BTT350. Post some pictures/video of where you are stuck with the disassembly

Dear oldturkey03, thanks for the info. Fantastic detailed info!

I took the unit to UBreakIFix, and they said I need a new power supply. I had already checked the fuse, and it is OK.

I am planning to buy the power supply at https://www.avsystemparts.com/home-theat....

But I am finding their advertising of prices to be misleading, so I am communicating about that first. JC

My friend Jose (electrical engineer), who is doing the repair with me, asked the following:

"What are the test points and expected voltages for the power supply.?
