Water doesn’t stop

Put in a load at 7pm. At 6am I heard water running in the laundry room. Opened the hood to the washer and the water was still pouring into the washer at full force. It did not flood, and it looks like the first cycle went through because the clothes’ position were after a spin cycle. Weirdly I had heard water running in the middle of the night but thought someone must be taking a shower.

Hi @klutz101 ,

What is the model number of the washer?

If water is still entering the tub even though the washer is turned off it appears as though there may be a problem with one of the water inlet solenoids (electrically operated to open but mechanically closed when power removed, valves) in the washer.

Try turning off the hot and cold water supply taps (faucets) that the washer water supply hoses are connected to and then open each one, in turn, to determine which water supply, hot or cold and therefore which inlet solenoid, is causing the problem.

If the solenoid is faulty it cannot be repaired, it has to be replaced

Knowing the model number will help to find the correct parts.

Hi @klutz101

Here’s how to find the model number.

If the water stopped entering when the machine was turned off, then it appears that the inlet solenoids are both OK.

Water still entering during a load could mean that there is a problem with the washer’s water level pressure switch or the water level pressure switch hose.

Regarding the machine shaking during the spin cycle. Make sure that the washer is level and steady on the floor by adjusting the feet so that there is no rocking motion, side to side or corner to corner or back to front when pushing down on the machine with your hand on the sides or front etc. To check if it is level and if you haven’t got a spirit level use a glass jug and half fill it with water and place it on the lid of the machine and check if the water is level in the jug.

I do not know. But the repairman came out after I had taken out all the clothes and it started working fine again. I don’t know what happened but I’m worried it could happen again and maybe flood my house. The machine does shake a lot in the spin cycle. It’s knocked the walls so much that tile has cracked in the other side of the wall where there is a shower.

Also the washer was not turned off but was in. I had been doing a load. I had to push the on/off button to stop the water from coming out.
