MP3 player released in 2011, to replace the Clip+, available in 4 GB and 8 GB. Featuring a full colour screen and Bluetooth mode.

Memory is too full

This device has a voice record function, using WAV, which eats up storage fast. One day, I inadvertently recorded beyond the storage limit. Now, when I try to turn it on or plug it into my computer, I get the message “Not enough space for Music DB. Please free 200 MB.” Trouble is, the device won’t show up in the Finder to let me delete anything! I’ve tried every combination of button pushing to try and get it to restart. Is there any hidden way to wipe the memory clean?

@pawlyshyn is it a Sansa Clip Zip player? Have you tried to format it with your computer?

@oldturkey03 Yes, it's a Clip Zip. My computer won't detect it when I plug it in. I've tried many different computers, Mac and PC.

@pawlyshyn

Have you tried this method? (see Device recovery)

Not sure if this is what you meant when you said "I’ve tried every combination of button pushing to try and get it to restart".

Apologies if you've seen this already

@jayeff Looks like this is for a PC, not that I can find it on the Sandisk site.

@pawlyshyn

I thought that it shows how to reflash the firmware for the device from a PC.

As it is an old device the best I could find is this but you have to signup to access it.

@veershenvi if you have read the question then you will know that "the device won’t show up in the Finder to let me delete anything". Any better ideas?
