Dryer not heating Maytag

My dryer has stopped producing heat. I started diagnosis on it to find that the plug wires and wire 28 has shorted out due to age and wear. I replaced the wires started the dryer and added a new heating element since I found charring on it. I watched it heat up while the drum was out, put everything back together and put some clothes in it. It is not heating again! In my tearing apart I checked continuity of the thermal fuse and hi limit both checked out fine. Can someone PLEASE offer advice! I am ready to put some holes in this %#*@ thing and there’s not many parts to replace on it!

Hi @immagurl ,

Don’t know the dryer, but here’s an image of the wiring diagram that may help.

In the diagram it also shows a cycling thermostat in the heater circuit, (I think this may be called the dryer operating thermostat - part #8 motor drive parts diagram but was thinking that since you said the heater worked without the drum in place that it should also be OK.

Here’s the parts list, ensure that you look at the electric model variant diagrams and not the gas model as the model number is very close, acw for electric, aaw for gas, when using them to locate the different parts.

You may have to check all the connections again by following the wiring diagram.

Hopefully a start.
