It seems to be a bad LCD panel. Does the image change when you apply pressure on the sides of the LCD panel ? You may try first to replace the LVDS (video cable) or double check if the cable is well connected to the panel (and logic board). Also if you want to be sure that the MacBook logic board is not faulty connect the computer to an external monitor and if the video is normal then the logic board should be OK.

Looks like a bad LCD, but to be sure, connect to an external display and see if the picture is fine there.

cracked LCD, it might grow larger in time. Pay attention at the way is fixed in hinges so not to get bigger (wrong placement, tensions in lcd)

Definitely a cracked LCD. I am an Apple Service Technician. You can do the replacement on your own if you have a putty knife (slim) and a #00 phillips screwdriver.

Tanja, take a look at the date. this question appears to have been visited last a year ago. It works so much better if you ask your own question. This section works a lot different than your usual "Forum". On here, You can ask question about Your device, and (most of the time) you will receive answers that are specific to your question. Use this link http://www.ifixit.com/Answers/Ask/MacBoo... to post your question, and give as much detail as possible. One more thing you can do, check the Step-by-Step guides for your device by clicking on the tab below the image of the device. You might just find your answer on there. Good Luck.
