crank and cam timing on 2008 Tucson 2.0L

I have replaced my head gasket, I have got the engine starting and running smoothly, however it is not staeting as quickly as it used to…. takes a couple of turns before it fires up… am I still slightly out on the timing.

What markings did you use to retime the crank and cam gears, did you rotate the crankshaft 2 full revolutions to reinspect if the markings were properly aligned before reassembling the engine. If you are sure you did this correctly then the next option is to pay for an oscilloscope inspection of the cam and crank sensor wave forms to see if they are properly aligned or timed. There are several reasons for a hard start and a paid scandata readout of all the sensors may point out a problem created due to your maintanance efforts. Air leaks, fuel pressure, broken wire someplace, etc.

if it started no issues before the timing was done apart from maybe the odd issue when the timing was possibly going before hand then the timing is probably still slightly out.
