Airport does not work

I have a white macbook core duo, and my computer won't connect through wifi. I can only stay connected to my wi-fi base (or any other base) for literally 10 minutes before it loses the signal and attempts to find it again. Every other wifi device in my house works perfectly too. This problem has started occurring about 4 Months after installing snow leopard if it helps. So i am wondering, do i have to replace the airport card, or is this a software related issue?

It can be either one. The only way to effectively isolate the problem would be to test the Mac with another known working Airport Card. I would start by taking the topcase off with a guide here and try re-seating the Antennae connectors to the card itself. Some have reported better connectivity by switching the antennae's positions on the card itself. If you are willing to try that you can isolate the issue.

This has happened to me. The fault happened, I believe, because I was using my MacBook with the lid down through an external monitor. It caused the machine to overheat so much the card failed. A new airport card fixed the problem.

So now I leave the lid open when running through an external monitor, and turn the brightness to zero to safe power.
