Because the distortions only show up on normal boot, my guess is that your drivers may be corrupted. Try opening disk utility and repair disk permissions, tell me how that goes

Although i have a 3GS, i had a similar problem after replacing the glass. However i had fixed my screen by pushing down on the connector, it apparently wasn't in all the way so it just showed the white screen. Try it out and tell me how that goes.
