Why is half of my screen not viewable due to static screen?

Hi, I dropped my phone earlier and half the screen became static but every phone function was fine. However, after doing the hold right part method the static disappeared. which seems great but now my touch screen is completely unresponsive.

EDIT: I have now tried wiping the cache partition, as well as a factory reset, but both to no avail, screen does not work as of now

I haven't used my axon 7 in a long time, but if you look at pictures of the inside you can see where the display cable plugs in, if you just apply pressure to that area it fixes it. very common issue

This method of fixing your phone may not give you a permanent repair. I got mine working again, but after a day or two, the problem came back. At least it allowed me to verify the LCD was still good, I've fixed a couple of HTC M8 phones, this one is similar, but in my opinion a little bit easier. Since I live in sunny California, I used the sunshine to get my phone heated up to soften the glue used in the assembly of modern phones. The speaker grills were a pain on my unit, but I have a tendency to be overly cautious & careful in any repairs I attempt. I used an x-acto knife with a #11 blade to carefully go around the perimeter of the grills & the display, once the grills are out of your way you'll see the six screws that hold the display to the back case. After taking them out with a T5 torx screwdriver, the glue keeps it all together still, so I left the unit in the sun for about 20 mins to get the temp up again, then using a blade from a utility knife for its rigidity, I worked the sides of the display until I could see some separation from the rear case, I had to increase my effort from gentle to aggressive while still taking a careful approach. It took me a lot longer than it should've, but after I had the display loose, it got a lot more straight forward. I found the display cable was halfway unplugged, but still in place, maybe a bit more pressure on the display before I took it apart would've achieved a permanent fix, but I needed to be sure it was fixed. I don't regret the time I spent on this as much as I do the 2 weeks of aggravation I got using one of my older phones. Be sure to work on a flat surface, with a towel or something to place your tools on, a snap lid container to keep the little parts in, & try to work in a well lit area with clean floors, I stress this because I often take things apart in the worst of places, so when I drop a small part it disappears into the abyss, sometimes I can find them, other times I've had to find a source for missing items. On this repair I managed to lose my SIM card tray in the early stages, so when I was done fixing it, I had to go on Ebay to buy a new one. I found the original, eventually, but not while I was searching for it everywhere I could think of.

This time waisting search for missing parts is pretty much a way of life for me, but it's extremely frustrating, at the very least.

If you want to try the fix that doesn't require taking the phone apart, you need to put even pressure on the right side edge of the screen, I seem to recall the connector being near the power button, but I started at the top of the screen, just under the speaker grill & using my thumb I slid down the length of the display over & over, but it only worked after I let the phone get hot in the sun. A heat gun would be more effective to control the heat, but I'm living off grid so I used the method that used the least electricity. If using the sun, be careful not to leave it with the display facing up, it can ruin it if you do, I left mine in the sun display facing down mostly. Be sure to remove your sim tray & cards before you start prying on the display, take your time or you'll need a new display & they aren't cheap like some other phones.
