Samsung 55inch Smart TV went out

So I was playing my Xbox on my TV and noticed a faint electric burning smell. I stopped and investigated the room and nothing. I continued playing and later noticed that it got stronger. Looked around the entire house and didn't find the source. I was then watching tv when going to sleep and all of a sudden the smell got worse and the picture on the tv started going out and the screen seemed to be sparking. I immediately unplugged it and left it off. I am at work now and will be taking a look at it when I'm off but wanted some pointers on what could have caused it and what to look for and see if it is repairable. Thanks in advanced.
