Change USB 3.0 port?

Hi,

The blue plastic piece inside the USB 3.0 port of my Lenovo Yoga 2 has been broken. There still the metallic pins inside but i'm scared to damage them without this piece of plastic.

I would like to change the port in itself on the motherboard, but I'm not sure about how to perform this, and where to find a replacement USB 3.0 port.

Does anyone can help me ?

Hi @oldbear ,

Here is a link to the hardware service manual for your laptop/tablet.

Scroll to p.43 to find the necessary pre-requisites and then the procedure on how to remove the systemboard so as to gain easy access to the USB 3.0 port.

To change the port you will need to have the skills and tools required to perform SMD soldering.

Unfortunately there is no part number for the actual USB connector in the service manual so you will have to see if you can obtain the correct one (as there are different types) by noting the one in situ (as to connections and restraining lugs position etc) and then see if you can find a similar one from places such as this or perhaps there may be a part number stamped on the USB port itself which you may be able to "google" search.

Hopefully this is of some help
