It got a bit wet and the only thing wrong some months later is that it needs charging more often. I know this is the bit that water gets too first so I'm hoping to buy a new part and change it myself

@ruth01 water damage can most certainly cause a slow death by corrosion. At minimum you need to change the battery. If you like your phone I also would suggest that you clean it of any corrosion and debris that is surely forming inside your phone. Use this video to work on your phone. This guide will show you how to properly clean your phone. Even so it was written for an iPhone all the points are pertinent to your phone as well. After you cleaned it, replace your battery.
