Hi,

Plug in a USB device which indicates that power is being delivered from the USB port, e.g. a mobile phone. It doesn't have to show that it is connecting to the laptop it only has to show that it is charging.

If it shows that it is NOT charging check the following setting:

Go to Start > Control Panel > Device Manager > Universal Serial Bus Controllers > click + to expand the list > scroll to first USB Root Hub entry > right click on the entry and select Properties > Power Management and uncheck the box (if it is checked) next to Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power. Click OK

Do this for all the USB Root Hub entries.

Restart the laptop and when it has booted to the Windows desktop see if:

a) there is power being supplied from your USB ports by plugging in the phone again,

b) that USB devices are being "recognized" when they are being plugged in.

If it shows that it IS charging but is not being recognized do the following:

Go to Start > Control Panel > Device Manager > Universal Serial Bus Controllers > click + to expand the list > scroll to first USB Root Hub entry > right click on the entry and select Uninstall. Do this for all the USB Root Hub entries. Be aware that after you do this, that the USB ports will not work until the laptop has been restarted.

Restart the laptop and allow Windows to find your USB ports and reinstall them. Wait until the HDD activity settles and then test that the USB ports are working correctly.

Hi @rouicha

Do you have power on any of the USB ports?

Hi,

Try uninstalling all the USB universal Host (and Enhanced Host if any) controllers in Device Manager and restarting the laptop.

If this doesn't work, physically check the USB ports with a strong light and a magnifying glass to see if all the pins are straight and parallel with each other and that they are all there (should be 4 pins per port) and that the port is clean and has not got any dust or lint trapped in it. Use a vacuum cleaner to suck any debris out do not try to get it out with a probe you may damage the pins.

If this proves no good you may have a hardware fault with the USB controller. here is a link to the service manual for your laptop. https://www.manualslib.com/manual/414773...
