How do I remove or disable Sandisk SSD cache

The Sandisk SSD cache in my syste has stopped working so effectively I have a normal HDD without the hybrid (HSSD) capability. I want to replace the hard drive with a SDD but suspect there may be a conflict between the SSD and the Sandisk SSD cache - hence I want to remove or disable the Sandisk SSD cache

Hi Philippe

Go to "Control Panel", "Device Manager", open "Disk Drives" and right click on "SanDisk SSD i100 32GB"

Then click on "Properties" in the drop-down box that opens - go to the "Driver" tab and click on the "Disable" bar.

This will resolve the conflict between the internal cache (SanDisk SSD) and the SSD drive you installed, and your system should be faster - at least as fast as it was .

Good luck!

Pierre

Hi Pierre, thanks for the hint, but actually, I do not see the SanDisk SSD in the Device Manager.

There will be no problem with the cache. It is impossible for a hdd to operate without cache, so it must be that the system is misreading or something. Just ignore it. Get your SSD, put you os on it, you'll be fine.

UPDATE

The cache is part of the SSHD. Once you remove the SSHD, the cache goes with it. No proplem between anything.

Hi George - thanks for your quick response.

I downloaded the SanDisk SSD Dashboard and it showed that the SSD Cache was not operational. All attempts to re-initialize it failed, so it seems like a hardware failure. I eventually disabled the SSD cache in the Device Manager.

The laptop now operates with the normal disk only - so it takes a long time to boot and is very slow.

I will now replace the disk with an SSD - since the cache is now disabled, there should be no problem.

Was your previous drive a SSHD?

Hi Pierre,

I also have an UH572 in which I recently installed an SSD. But my laptop is still very slow during bios boot (stays with the Fujitsu logo for minutes before booting normally). I suspects a SSD cache problem. Did you have such a problem ? Where did you download the SanDisk SSD Dashboard ?

Thanks
