When I press my power button, nothing happens. How can I fix this?

- Is the power adapter cable plugged into the laptop? If so, make sure the adapter is plugged into an outlet and that outlet has power.
- If this solves your problem, your battery may either be faulty or not charged. Try letting your battery recharge for a few hours then power down the machine. Unplug the laptop from the power adapter and turn on the machine. If it doesn’t turn on, then your battery will need to be replaced.
- If this doesn’t solve your problem then you may have a faulty power adapter. While plugged into an outlet, is there a light on the adapter?
- If there is, the cord to the adapter may be faulty and needs to be replaced.
- If not, then the adapter may be faulty and needs to be replaced.
- If there is, the cord to the adapter may be faulty and needs to be replaced.

Tried all these obvious things first. They weren't the problem. Also tried less obvious ones and no success. Now waiting for repair shop to phone about progress made a day and a half later.

press Ctrl + alt + del non stop. It works

do i just hold my fingers onto ctrl+alt+del for a few secs or do i just press it one time.

Worked for me too. I had to press it several times though. I pressed them in order, Control, Alt, then the delete button.

You may have a faulty Power button.
Try disconnecting the power button board cable from the systemboard and then test the button when it is being held operated for continuity by using an Ohmmeter connected to the appropriate cable end connections and pressing the button.
Here’s a link to the maintenance and service guide for the laptop.
Scroll to p.93 to view the necessary pre-requisite steps to remove/replace the function board/power button board.
If the button is faulty the part number for the board and cable is 683486-001.
Search online using the part number only to find suppliers of the part. Here’s a link to just one supplier. It is only to show you what the part looks like and how much it may cost. There are other suppliers online that may suit you better.

I tried all the suggestions with no luck and then unplugged all auxiliary components and suddenly it turned on.
I was really sad and now, yeah! Thanks everyone for sharing. This is a great resource!

mybe there is broblem in bower ic so if you can open laptop mybe i can learn you how you can fix it

my Toshiba LAPTOP battery was near-dead so did order a new one exactly the same, so did insert the new one correctly but when a do click the power nothing happen the little green light do not appear , did try many times nothing did let the battery charge overnight same, so did put back the old one no problems the soon a click the power all good ,
so let say a real puzzle no clue what the problems

Before 3days ago I was charged my laptop and used easily but today I was opened my laptop but these are not working properly and not on properly

3 days before I fully charged my laptop before going to bed and that time the power button is having issues already like you have to press it more than 1 min. to on. After that, I haven't used my laptop. When I try to open it the power button just doesn't work I tried pressing it multiple times (long press and seconds press) but nothing happens. Their is light when I tried to charge it but the screen won't turn on neither the power button. Help. My parents will kill

I held the power key down for about 20 seconds.
I think I may have upset it because with the lid closed and the laptop turned off I plugged in a usb battery pack to recharge. Nothing happened because the laptop was off but when I opened the lid to turn it on still nothing happened. I think it detected an attempt to boot from the battery pack and so protected itself.
