How can I make my phone run faster?

So I use my phone for some simple games, as well as everyday texting and calling. It seems like it is taking longer to run simple things like opening up my texts than it should/used to. Is there anyway to speed up the processing of the phone or make it handle these actions better?

Hey Andrew,

One reason why your phone is running slowly could be small memory space. The LG Power Tracfone only has 4.14 GB of usable memory space, but you could solve this problem by getting a new SD card to install. The extra space will help your phone run faster. If this is not the issue you can check out the troubleshooting page for more possible solutions.

Hope this helps!

Hi,

Are these games online or off line?

If they are 'offline', try disabling (if you don't need them or use them and if they are enabled) the following:

1. WiFi

2. Bluetooth

3. Data Connection

To do this go to :

Menu > Settings > Wireless and Networks > WiFi > swipe button left to off.

Menu > Settings > Wireless and Networks > Bluetooth swipe button left to off.

Menu > Settings > Wireless and Networks > more > Mobile Networks > Data Connection tap to enter, select off.

Disabling the Data Connection means effectively that you are disconnecting the internet option from your phone and also you will not be able to send or receive any MMS messages (texts with pictures). Ordinary SMS messages (texts only) however will still be able to be sent and received and your phone will still work as a phone. If you wish to use the internet or to send or receive MMS messages simply turn on the Data Connection option.

By disabling these features you are freeing up phone resources which can then be used for other uses. For example with the WiFi and Bluetooth options enabled your phone is constantly looking for networks/connections which not only uses resources but power as well. With the Data Connection enabled there may be apps on your phone which may (stress may only) be accessing the internet in the background, unbeknownst to you, not only using resources and power but also eating into your download quota.

I've been using an iPhone for almost 2 years now but I still use an old Galaxy S2 to stream Pandora music through Wifi to a stereo speaker & subwoofer setup, and I had to clear up a bunch of stuff to make an old phone run Pandora nicely. So, here are two major suggestions:

1. Assuming you have an add-on SSD card plugged into your phone's SSD socket, go into Settings/Application Manager and move as many of your installed apps from phone memory to your SSD card. You can always buy and install an SSD card with more memory. That would maximize the amount of memory your phone needs to run, and let your phone run faster.

2. Uninstall apps that you haven't use for a while, or use only occasionally

These two steps should help. Sorry I'm not more specific with my directions as I have not upgraded Android on my old phone for a while. BTW, here it my 3rd tip: do not update your phone to the latest Android release unless you REALLY need it. Each new release put more stress on old hardware, and also pushes you into buying a new phone.
