3D touch after screen disassembly

Hi.

So, I read that the 3D touch won´t be perfect after a screens replacement. Is this right?

Any different between a OEM screen and a original?

And, if I disconnect the screen (original screen that came with the phone), and connect it again, will that affect the 3D touch?

Not all support the 3d touch function well. We have made a test on different iPhone 6s screens about 3d touch. You can check here:

Yea, it’s a little weird. I can’t switch apps anymore, there is a dead spot in a certain section of the display and half the time it fails to register at all.

All that to say, I feel like I got what I paid for. The display works. Touch feels accurate. Colors are solid. Refresh rate is slow, resolution is lower than original and force touch isn’t fully functioning. But I can text again!

Hello,

I have ordered my replacement display from iFixit.

The viewing angel is poorer then the original Display. It was like switch the phone on and recognizing that there is something different. Refresh rate I can’t comment.

But what is really annoying is the 3D touch! I use it regularly when typing text to move the cursor.

For me it seems that the display actually does not have an force touch, instead my impression is that is simulates it by detecting an increasing area that is touched.

So when I use the flat thumb it works, but if I use only the tip of the finger it does not! On the original it always worked with the finger tip. Another indication is that the sensitiveres in the settings has no effect.

I’m hoping for a reaction of iFixit.

I have this same issue. Third party replacement screens with 3d touch works exactly as you described, by detecting a large area and not pressure. I've tried multiple screens from amazon all with same result.

is this wrongly installed, or are all the screens like this unless you get it at apple?

OEM 6s displays are built in a different factory, which means they will have different workmanship from the original displays.

It may look the same and feel the same but the 3D touch may not be as responsive as with the original.

What do you mean it wont be perfect?

Ive gotten my 6S Screen/LCD repaired myself ( same LCD, i just repaired the glass screen) and the 3D touch works fine.

It all appears to be down to the individual quality of the parts. I ordered a 6S LCD for a screen replacement and while the LCD and touch worked without a problem , the Force Touch would only work 30-50% of the time and be really inconsistent.

In the end , I got a refund on the screen! , probably like most things there are varying quality of the parts. Where did you source yours from and how much did you pay for it if you don't mind me asking? :-)
