How can I get my audio back?

I have no audio; neither the headphone jack or the port connector will give me sound. I have tried 2 different headphone devices, and I have tried two different port devices, I get no sound at all. I have completely reset and reloaded my Itunes library, I have checked the maximum sound level setting, and I checked all of the other setting concerning sound, but nothing has made any difference. This started while I was on a trip, when I got home I hooked it up to my computer and reset the device and library. I tested it with my preferred headphones and after messing with it for a while, I did get sound for about a minute or so. After I changed albums though, I once again had no sound. Any ideas?

Hi Bob did you get an answer yet or does it even still matter since this question is a few month old. Just wondering what you meant by messing with your headphone. There are plenty of things it could be -- a faulty jack somewhere, for instance, a loose wire -- but it definitely sounds like a hardware issue. I seem to remember that there are issues with the audio chip having connection issues. See if you apply pressure to the bottom right corner if the sound comes back. It might be actually a little closer to the wheel- but not on the wheel. If that works than the solution would be to reflow the solder enough to reestablish a solid connection. Check this out and see if you are up to it :) How can I get my audio back? and look for a post by warnergt Good luck and let us know if this is helping you any.

oldturkey03: No, I haven't had any answers yet, so yes, it does matter, thank you. I am curious to try and remedy the headphone jack to see if that cures everything, but just curious if you know if having the headphone jack not functioning would also defeat the audio out via the connector port; thank you for your answer. Bob

I do not think that the headphone jack has any impact on the audio of the connector. I know that a lot of time when the headphone jack is not working , the dock still does. It sounds more like your audio processor not working. Of course there is always a chance that a short circuit in the headphone jack could do that, but I doubt it. You could always try and get a jack to solder it on the logic board. I'd go with whatever route would make most economical sense good luck and let us know
