hello sir

i have a jeep cheroke 2.7 crd the probleam with the car is that it wont shift gears i bought a new speed sensor new gear shifter new conductor plate serviced it but still it wont shift gears it drives with one gear i also diagnose it but still the same

what can i do please help

REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION STARTER MOTOR REMOVAL

2.5L ENGINE

(1) Disconnect and isolate the battery negative cable.

(2) Raise and support the vehicle.

(3) While supporting the starter motor with one hand, use the other hand to remove the two screws that secure the starter motor to the engine block

(Fig. 1).

(4) Lower the starter motor from the engine block far enough to access and remove the nut that secures the battery positive cable eyelet terminal to the starter solenoid B(+) terminal stud (Fig. 2). Always support the starter motor during this process. Do not let the starter motor hang from the wire harness.

(5) Remove the battery positive cable eyelet terminal from the starter solenoid B(+) terminal stud. Always support the starter motor during this process. Do not let the starter motor hang from the wire harness.

(6) Disconnect the solenoid terminal wire harness connector from the connector receptacle on the starter solenoid. Always support the starter motor during this process. Do not let the starter motor hang from the wire harness.

(7) Remove the starter motor and any starter motor shims (if used) from the engine block.

4.0L ENGINE

(1) Disconnect and isolate the battery negative cable.

(2) Raise and support the vehicle.

(3) Remove the lower screw (forward facing) that secures the starter motor to the manual transmission clutch housing or the automatic transmission torque converter housing (Fig. 3).

(4) While supporting the starter motor with one hand, use the other hand to remove the upper screw (rearward facing) that secures the starter motor to the manual transmission clutch housing or the automatic transmission torque converter housing.

(5) Lower the starter motor from the front of the manual transmission clutch housing or automatic transmission torque converter housing far enough to access and remove the nut that secures the battery positive cable eyelet terminal to the starter solenoid B(+) terminal stud (Fig. 15). Always support the starter motor during this process. Do not let the starter motor hang from the wire harness.

(6) Remove the battery positive cable eyelet terminal from the solenoid B(+) terminal stud. Always support the starter motor during this process. Do not let the starter motor hang from the wire harness.

(7) Disconnect the solenoid terminal wire harness connector from the connector receptacle on the starter solenoid. Always support the starter motor during this process. Do not let the starter motor hang from the wire harness.

(8) Remove the starter motor from the manual transmission clutch housing or automatic transmission torque converter housing.

First you need to know the exact year not a range. Second that should be a v6, going on the provided photo. So having goten the starter you know what it looks like. To find it drive up on ramps, engage your emergense brake. Pop open your hood this lets light in to the dark engine bay and under body. Now shimy on your back or on a creeper under the auto from the front. On the lower passenger side of the engine you should find the bell houseing (were the engine joines the transmision) it is in this area you should find your starter. Befor replacing fully disconect the batery. should be 3 bolts an some cables. Take it out, put it in an done. Note; when changing the starter and or altenator its best to replace your battery as a bad altenator and or starter does damage the cells in the batery which will damage your new altenator and starter. More expensive yes but no. Do it right the first time or chase you tail draining the bank account its your choice.

A bad starter does not necessarily harm the battery at all. if the solenoid goes bad, it only affects the vehicle's "no start" problem. Have a battery load tested before blindly throwing money at a new one.
