What to do when your HTC EVO 4G is exposed to water?
I spilled water on the front of my phone and it stopped working! Help please!

pull the battery ASAP, take phone apart and clean with highest percentage of alcohol you can find. when it comes to water damage there is a unknown amount of damage that can happen. it can work for a week or a year. chips are vary easy to burn out, so that 100% guaranteed by alti94 is not true. it all depends on the situation and how badly even how much of a charge the battery had when it happened can effect the outcome.

Try putting it in some rice. It helps to absorb the water.

@Rebecca, you are guessing. Rice may be a mediocre desiccant, but it has no use for the repair of electronic items. In order to prevent any corrosion and ultimately short circuits the device will have to be disassembled and properly cleaned. You are not providing a good answer ;-)

Try putting it in a bag of rice. It will help absorb the water. But to prevent corrosion and short circuiting of the device disassembly and proper cleaning. I like to disassemble the device and put in a bag of rice for a couple hours just to make sure I got all the water out.

Ya rice is good but not enough. The method i always use is to disassemble the phone and wash the motherboard with 99% isopropyl alcool. 100% guaranteed it will work again.
