Why does my T420 appear to glitch/short out and restart?

Hello,
I have a Lenovo ThinkPad T420 that appears to glitch/short out and restarts while I’m using it. Is there a way to figure out what is causing this and how do I fix it? When it does this I get a snowy screen for about 1.5 - 2 seconds then it restarts itself. It doesn’t do it on any specific app or window or screen nor does it do it at the same time every time, it’s random. Can anyone suggest how to troubleshoot and fix this problem?
