Phone's really are a battery, mainboard and screen, so I would forsee the motherboard in the phone at this point
Remember that ESN? Call sprint and check if it is clear,lost,stole,insurance claim,already activated if you have to change the motherboard, otherwise, no big deal
The owner has to deactivate the phone, so remind them to do that
