I had this problem too.  I had to open the phone up and I found that if you follow the cable of the charging port/battery all the way to its end (right over where the sim goes) it was disconnected.  I held it down with my finger and it started charging instantly, after months of being dead.   I cut a small piece of the card that the sim tray tool card and placed it right on top of it and underneath the tape and it charges now.
