The fact you don't even get a charging light could mean that the charge port or power board is faulty.

It's tricky to diagnose without a good root around but my next guess would be the CMOS battery could be dead.

If replacing that didn't sort it I'd look to the RAM. Faulty RAM would stop the BIOS/CMOS from even starting, but then again I think you'd still get a power light.
