I got the mid-2012 non Retina MBP 13" too, and after running System Identifier (to check if all my 16 gigs of RAM were recognized) it also seemed to have two USB2 ports only.
However, TechTool Pro 8 told me that the USB ports were running at 5 gigabit/sec which means they comply with the USB 3.0 standard.
BTW, according to ElCap's system report my macbook pro also came with 1536 MB of shared video memory ;)) so I surely can't rely too much on what the mac is telling me about itself!
