you wrote "the buttons are responive" - did you mean unresponsive?

did you use an original nintendo case or one of those "original nintendo" cases from ebay ?

the problem could be to much pressure on one or more buttons, that way they act like they are always pressed and that way no button would work.

i would start the ds with the open shell and see if the buttons work or not
