You must check carefully using a flashlight if you can see a faint image of the desktop when the mbp is powered (if the computer can load the OS). If so that means that the problem is a lightning issue, maybe the backlight fuse is blown. If you only see a black screen then it's probably a logic board issue or a screen issue.
