Unable to Charge / Power On
ionvac won’t power on even though it should be capable of doing so (full battery or charged overnight).
Electrical System Malfunction
Reset the electrical system:
- Remove the battery.
- Hold down the power button for about 20 seconds, then release.
- Immediately replace the battery and power ON.
Charging Contacts are Dirty
The charging contacts are the 2 points on both the charging dock and bottom of the ionvac.
Restore the ionvac’s ability to recharge:
- Remove any dirt on the charging contacts that can obstruct this connection.
- Wipe all charging contacts with a clean, dry cloth.
Battery is Ineffective
- Make sure your ionvac battery is clean and fully inserted.
- Ensure your ionvac is using the battery from the manufacturer.
- Try a new battery by following our Battery Replacement Guide.
Charging Dock isn’t Charging
- Test the separate DC power cable from the dock to another device.
- If the cable fails to operate, replace the malfunctioning cable with a new 6.3*4.0mm DC power cable.
- If ionvac is still unable to charge, ensure that the power cable input on the dock is free of dust or hairs that may interfere with connectivity.
- Clean the power cable input with an air duster or isopropyl alcohol.
- Test the charging dock with both the ionvac and a functional DC power cable.
- If the ionvac fails to power on, follow our Power Button Replacement Guide.
ionvac Dies Randomly
After powering on and operating normally, ionvac will turn off at random.
Low Battery
- Make sure your ionvac is fully charged by leaving it on the charging port for several hours or overnight.
Battery is Ineffective
Electrical System Malfunction
See Electrical System Malfunction (top of page).
Not Moving or Turning Effectively
ionvac gets stuck and cannot move or navigate corners.
Loose or Obstructed Wheels
- Clean out any debris in and around the wheels with a damp, lint-free cloth.
- Tighten the screws in the wheels.
- Make sure the wheels are properly lubricated, and clean off any excess lubricant.
- Test the wheels to ensure they move smoothly.
If the problem persists, you may need to replace the wheels. Follow our Motor Wheel Replacement Guide.
Blockage in Main Brush Roller
Clean out the main brush roller:
- Remove the main brush roller from its casing.
- Gently remove any debris entangled in the roller and return it to the casing.
If the problem persists, you may need to replace the main brush roller. Follow our Main Brush Replacement Guide and Side Brush Replacement Guide to replace your brushes.
Stuck in Rough Terrain
Recalibrate mapping settings:
- Follow this Mapping Guide for tips on calibrating the mapping settings.
Unable to Connect ionvac to Wi-Fi
ionvac loses connection to Wi-Fi even with an existing network.
Charging Station is Too Far From Router
Your ionvac may not connect to Wi-Fi because the dock is too far from your router. The further the ionvac is from the router, the lower the bandwidth.
- Move the dock closer to your router to establish a stronger connection.
Device Needs Rebooting
If the ionvac is still not connecting to Wi-Fi, you may need to perform a reboot.
- Press and hold the power button for 10 seconds.
- Wait another 10 seconds and turn it back on.
- Reconnect to your Wi-Fi, and wait for the ionvac status light to turn green.
Router Connection Needs Rebooting
- Power OFF and unplug your internet router.
- Plug it back in.
- Wait 5 minutes and turns it ON.
- Check if a connection can be established with the ionvac.
Brushes Do Not Collect Debris
Rotating brushes on the ionvac stopped spinning.
Dirt Buildup in Dustbin and Brushes
If the indicator (Power Button) is solid red and makes two or four beeps, this means either the side brush or main brush malfunctioned.
Emptying the dustbin after each use and maintaining clean brushes can prevent build up.
Clean out the dustbin:
- Press the dustbin release button to open.
- Use a new cloth to clean the inside of the dustbin completely before closing.
Clean out the brushes:
- Remove the main brush roller and side rollers from their casings.
- Gently remove any dirt and debris entangled in the rollers, taking out hair and other buildup with the sharp cleaning tool provided or a vacuum cleaner.
- Click the brushes back into place.
Main Brush and Brush Cover Improperly Installed
When brushes on your ionvac are improperly installed, they may scrape the floor or stop spinning entirely.
Reinstalling brushes:
- Switch the power OFF and place the ionvac on a level surface, ensuring the bottom faces upward.
- Disassemble the main brush by pulling on the release tabs of the brush guard and lifting the brush out. To remove the side brushes, gently pull them up and out of the ionvac.
- Clean all brushes and the brush stands with the sharp cleaning tool provided or a vacuum cleaner.
- Reinstall the brushes by gently pushing them back into their assigned slots.
- Ensure the brushes click into place and the main cover is closed.
- Wait 10 seconds and switch the power back ON.
Brush Bristles are Worn Out
If your bristles are worn beyond repair, you may need to replace the brushes on your ionvac.
- Follow our Main Brush Replacement Guide and Side Brush Replacement Guide to replace your brushes.
Filter Needs to be Replaced
If the problem persists, you may need to replace the filter on your ionvac.
- Follow our Filter Replacement Guide to replace your rotating brushes.

Ionvac runs backward, in other words, as soon as it is out of the charging station, it backs around the room. pressing the directional keys on the remove has little to no effect. ideas?
WEL - Antwoord
Hi WEL,
The vacuum moves backwards when the bumper is pressed. In the event that the bumper is stuck compressed, it will override any directional inputs from the remote and continuously move backwards. This is a common problem with this vacuum and is usually resolved by slightly loosening the tight screws below the rim (refer to our Logic Board guide, Step 6.) For some reason, when the rims on the bumper are too tightly screwed, it interferes with the bumper's ability to pop back out. Loosening their screws slightly will allow the bumper to bounce again.

SIDE BRUSH ERROR FIX:
If the machine is throwing the side brush error and one or both side brushes have stopped spinning after having been cleared and can spin smoothly by hand, they may not need to be replaced immediately or at all.
1. Follow steps 1-5 of this guide:
ionvac SmartClean V2 Side Brush Motors Replacement
6. Disconnect one of the side brush motors from the circuit board.
7. Without replacing screws, replace main housing, switch power ON, flip unit over, and place on floor, and start unit to test.
8. If the unit continues to throw the error, gently flip it over, turn it off, remove the main housing, and re-connect the brush motor and disconnect the OTHER side brush motor.
9. If unit runs without throwing the error after step 7 or 8, stop the unit, gently flip it over, turn it off, remove the main housing, and re-connect the brush motor. This can 'restart' the brush motor that is throwing the error.
10. Unit can run with either or both motors disconnected if necessary.
