Asus Q500A troubleshooting

If the power adapter/charger is plugged into the wall and the charging symbol on the charger is not lighting up, try placing it into another known working outlet. If the light still does not come on it is a defective power adapter/charger. Consider purchasing a replacement adapter/charger. If the power adapter/charger light is lit and the laptop is not receiving power the charging port may be defective.

If the charging battery symbol light comes on (this symbol can be found when the keyboard and screen are visible, beneath the keyboard to the left) , yet does not seem to hold a charge, it is a defective battery. Consider purchasing a replacement battery, and see our replacement guide HERE.

Ensure that the touchscreen is not disabled in windows settings.

Check the touchscreen for any scratches or broken pieces.

Ensure the battery is inside the device.

Ensure the laptop and its power adapter/charger is plugged in to a power source.

If the device battery and power adapter/charger appear to be working, yet the device still does not turn on it is likely a defective motherboard.

If the device crashes during normal operation, it is likely due to a failing hard drive. See our replacement guide for the hard drive HERE. Consider replacing with a solid state drive or another hard drive.

If the device crashes while doing multiple tasks simultaneously, it is possibly due to insufficient amounts of ram. Consider purchasing replacement ram.See our guide HERE.

Clean out the device's vents. Use a can of compressed air, and spray into the vents. This will displace the dust that accumulated in the vents.

Position the device in a different environment. Consider moving the device to a cooler area. Make sure the vents have room to breathe. This will let the device better dissipate heat.

Consider purchasing an exterior cooling pad. These can be found online or in stores. Cooling pads will provide more cooling.

Ensure the touch-pad has not been disabled in settings.

Try using the function command 'Fn + F9' to re-enable touch-pad.

The device may be running on an incorrect resolution. The correct resolution for the device is 1920*1080. To fix this: Right click the windows desktop. Select screen resolution. Select the 1920 *1080 option.

Update the bios to latest version through the Asus website linked at the top of the page.

If issues persist and the drive will not open, or will open but will not read the CD or DVD then it is possibly broken and needs to be replaced.

Reinstall the webcam driver from Asus website linked at the top of the page.
