iPhone 4 Rear Panel Replacement

2 - 5 minuten

Easy

Mijn probleem

I'm a food writer and rely on my iPhone camera as a means for documenting my stories & reviews. My lens was cracked (as well as the entire original white backing) and in all of my photos, when hit with a certain light, there was a 'ghost' that appeared in the upper right corner.

Mijn oplossing

Okay, to a point. The camera lens is perfect - I have rediscovered the great camera/image quality (for a phone, mind you) that the iPhone 4 provides and my writing has picked up.

Process was easy, just need some steady hands and the ability to handle and care to tiny things - namely the screws. Which leads me to my one, and only, complaint.

The transparent back that I purchased through iFixit is supposedly the GSM for AT&T but the screw hole mounts on it either 1) don't line up properly or 2) aren't drilled out wide enough through to receive the original screws, or the liberation Phillips head screws - I tried both.

I began to try a bit too hard and began to strip one of the Phillips head screws, so I stopped there. The tops of the screws stick out about 1/32 of an inch, which seems like nothing, and luckily my case extends out enough just to cover them, but, all in all, I'm a bit disappointed with that.

Mijn advies

Anyhow - my advice is to just be happy that there are parts that come darn close to GSM quality, even though they might be off by, literally, a hair.
