More ZIP and GRUNT needed

Mijn probleem

A compact machine, able to cope with the normal browsing of the web and general Email and office duties. Needing a bit more ZIP and GRUNT to handle a bit of photo editing and graphic work required a bit of an upgrade.

Went with 16GB ram, a 750GB 7200rpm Western Digital Black HDD and a Samsung 840 series 120GB SSD.

WOW!! A totally different machine now, driving a pair of 24inch Samsung monitors. Able to handle everything i have thrown at it in the past week since the upgrade, have not done any video editing yet though. Extremely pleased with the result.

Mijn oplossing

Followed the upgrade guide and it was great. No sudden surprises or hidden extras to find out about during the "FIX".

It took about 40 minutes from shutdown to start up. I already had the SSD running as a boot disk as an external so did not have to format and load all of that.

Mijn advies

Read through the guide a couple of times first. Have a second machine with a "LARGE" montor to follow the instructions. DO NOT RUSH THINGS!!! Most of all, stay calm and do not force things, you will only end up breaking something much to your own regret. If you do not feel competent to tackle it, get a friend who has the necessary technical know-how to help or do it for you. GOOD LUCK . . . ;-)
