    • Remove battery cover by pressing down on battery cover and sliding right.

    • Unscrew the two (2) #00, 10 mm screws located below the microphones on the back cover.

    • Remove the back cover (using a plastic removal tool around the edges if needed).

    • De-solder and remove the heat shield.

    • Be careful while removing this shield, since the copper sheet is very easy to rip

    • De-solder the line in port from its soldering points.

    • These points are located beneath the black shielding on the left side of the blue circuit board.

    • Replace Line-in port and re-solder at points specified in Step 6.

    • Reattach and re-solder the heat shielding back into place.

    • Again, be careful when soldering as it is very easy to melt through the heat shield and copper sheet beneath.

There are actually three fixing screws which must be unscrewed before the back can be removed, the third one is under the serial number label.

To actually change the audio socket the top PCB with the sockets has to be removed from the unit, it has the microphones soldered to the top edge and the speaker soldered to the bottom with short, delicate wires, it can be pulled out to one side without de-soldering anything by pulling the right (looking from the back) microphone off it’s supporting lug.

The top board is connected to the bottom board by a miniature plug and socket attached to both boards which can just be pulled apart.
