Background and Identification
Electrocardiograph machines (also known as ECG or EKG machines) measure a patient’s electrical heart activity through a set of electrodes placed on the patient’s body. The electrodes measure the activity from twelve angles, or leads, usually for about ten seconds.
A patient may receive an ECG if they experience symptoms including chest pain, shortness of breath, arrhythmias, and murmurs.
