Background
The DeWalt DW660 is a heavy-duty corded rotary cut-out tool, often referred to as a spiral saw. It features a compact design, a turn-on/bump-off switch, and tool-free bit changes for easier operation. Designed for durability and extended use, the DW660 has become popular among both contractors and hobbyists.
The tool has a 5-amp motor and operates at speeds over 30,000 RPM. It is designed for cutting materials such as drywall, plywood, ceramic tile, Plexiglas, cement board, countertops, and acoustical ceiling tile, making it suitable for a wide variety of projects.
In 2007, DeWalt issued a safety recall for certain DW660 tools, including units within code range 200601 through 200639. A wire inside the handle could come into contact with the arbor shaft, creating a potential shock hazard under certain circumstances.
Identification
The corded DeWalt DW660 has a primarily yellow plastic body with black accents. The bit is inserted into the collet lock at the front of the tool and is surrounded by a black circular depth guide.
The DeWalt logo is printed in yellow on a black background on one side of the tool. On the opposite side, a black label with yellow text displays the model number and other tool information. The DW660 weighs 3.5 lb and measures 11.3 × 5.7 × 3.5 inches.
