1985-1989 BMW 635CSi Repair

The BMW E24 is the first generation of the BMW 6 Series range of grand tourer sports cars produced between 1976 and 1989. The BMW E24 was sold as a two-door coupé with a rear-wheel-drive layout. All BMW E24 models included gasoline straight-six engines. Most versions, except for the M635CSi/M6 model, use a version of the BMW M30 engine family.

The M635CSi model was introduced in 1983 for the 1985 model year as the first car in the line of BMW M6 models. The equivalent model, called the ‘M6,’ was released in 1987 for the North American market. The M635CSi model is powered by a 282-horsepower version of the BMW M88/3 straight-six engine. The North American M6 model is powered by a 265-horsepower version of the BMW S38 straight-six engine. The BMW S38 engine has a lower compression ratio than the BMW M88 engine and also uses a catalytic converter.

Through its production between 1983 and 1989, 5,855 M635CSi/M6 cars were produced. 1,767 of these vehicles were built for the North American market.

The BMW emblem is generally located in the center of their vehicle’s front end. The emblem includes the letters “BMW” in a black circle surrounding an inner circle made from two white and two blue triangles with the same-colored shape opposite to each other.
