Tried reviewing questions and Guides? If lenses are bayonet types, try turning to lock then press the release button before unscrewing the lens. Mechanical latching mechanisms in film and digital cameras are precision machined for long life, suffering little wear. With precision made parts and exposure to weathering, a fine speck of dirt may jam the lens/camera locking mechanism. A gentle hand rap/tap/slap on the base of the lens or camera body may free whatever caused the jam.

Thank you! I have tried what you said, but so far no luck. I will keep trying though!

On my F3, pressing the release button and turning the lens clockwise allows removal. I tried lens removal today. 20 years+ stored away.

It's the same for the D5300. Nikon lenses twist clockwise (to the right when you are looking at the front of the camera) to come off, which is backward from most other camera brands.

@oldturkey03 Lol. When dusting off my F3, I tried lefty loosey righty tighty and failed until turning clockwise...........

@notbroken I hear ya. It's just weird having to turn it clockwise to remove. It's so counter intuitive to our muscle memory :-)
