Rear Camera Shutter Lock After Screen Replacement

I have searched far and wide on this topic and it seems like I am not the only one with the issue, but have not found a good answer. I replaced the front LCD panel and back panel on my iPhone 4s. Everything is working perfectly, except for the Rear Camera. I get the dreaded shutter lock. I have replaced the camera with a new one, I have network reset, I have hard reset, I have reset all settings, I have restored the phone. I also checked to make sure there were no damaged capacitors, or jumpers. I have not found a concrete answer on what could have caused this, or how to fix. Any help is greatly appreciated.

More than likely it was a jumper that was damaged during the repair. I have seen this MANY times. However, I have only personally seen it with the GSM iPhone 4 and it is easily fixed. On the CDMA 4 and on all 4S models I have not been able to locate the jumper on the logic board.

Let me ask this, do you have Instagram? Or a 3rd party camera application? If not, download Instagram. Try using the camera on it now.

If that doesn't work, try restoring the settings, then use instagram. See if either of those works. let me know

Thanks Brent. I could not find a damaged jumper either. I went over the logic board with a magnifying glass. I have tried Instagram both before and after the reset with no dice. As well as socialcam and viddy just in case. Appreciate the help!

I am up against this problem - back camera works but front stuck on shutter. Going to try replacing front camera but curious, Brent, you've seen this many times? And what jumper do you replace and can you provide any specifics as to how you fix the jumper issue on the GSM?

I have this problem as well word for word I havent tried an replacment camera yet its ordered and on the way. Wish I read this before I ordered it. Did you ever solve the issue if so how?

Look at step 26 this should put back on track and the nice thing is all you have to do is remove the battery connector and top plate cover the logic board connectors then you can take the camera out and you will see where it goes.

I have the same problem and wonder if anyone can help with where this part goes in the 4S as its the only part left, phone works fine except for camera.

I am still waiting on a fix for this! I've replaced the camera, done all types of resets and no fix!

It could possibly be a jumper cable... but WHERE!!?

I havn't found a jumper on the iphone 4S motherboard...
