Identify a component please

Hi All

I've opened up a dead PS2 for repair and have found what seems to be a fluid leak from a component on the back of the motherboard. It is a GH-026 board.

marked on the top. Please see the image below where I have circled the component in question in yellow. There's 2 of them on the board and it has '100' marked on the top.

Any guides on how to replace it would be helpful too. Thank you.

Gekozen oplossing

Hi Graham,

I believe the component you have circled is a Choke (Shielded Power Inductor) 100uH. It is a solid ferrite with copper winding which is fully sealed and doesn't contain any fluid for it to leak.

Dab the fluid resuide with isopropyl alcohol and see if it dissolves and clean, if yes then it's most likely flux.

Possibly you could have leaking capacitors near by? Check for bulging tops, crusty residue at base or just fishy/ metalic smell.
