Constant date re-setting required

Does this camera have an internal battery that might now need replacing? And is this possible? I have owned it from new and recently this problem is occurring:

Every time I turn it on (unless almost immediately after last use) I am required to re-set the time and all my programmed features and preferences are lost. Still a useful camera, but this problem is annoying and time-wasting.
