Is the fan in the laptop working OK?
It may be that it needs to be cleaned of any dust and also that the thermal paste on the CPU has dried out and needs to be refreshed.
Having a fan with restricted airflow and possibly dried thermal paste on the CPU may cause the laptop to turn off so as to protect the CPU from overheating and being damaged.
Here's a video that shows how to open the laptop and remove the fan so that if it needs cleaning, this can be done outside of the laptop. You can also see the CPU (once the heat sink has been removed with the fan) to check the condition of the thermal paste to see if it needs replacing.
