knocking sound when in-door ice maker cycles.

Sound only occurs when ice maker is "ON" and not every time. Sound seems to be coming from behind the rear freezer panel, like plastic gears slipping, perhaps 4 or 5 "knocks" then stops? Wakes family up at night. Does not produce ice when on.
