How to replace the actuator on the fuel cap door?

I went to refuel my car yesterday and the fuel cap door wouldn’t open. I had to force the cap open and found that the actuator wasn’t seating properly. I can’t find any way but to completely strip the inside of the trunk in order to gain access to the electronics and the screws in the back of the actuator which holds it in place. Is there an easier way to replace this rather than completely strip the interior?

Hi @ryanmontgo29452

What year is the vehicle?

door

Yeah that’s the earlier model with the hex screw on the outside but the newer models don’t have that at all. Think there are two screws on the inside behind the boot liner. Thanks

Looks more relevant to my car, I’ll let you know if this works on 2017s when I get a chance to do it at the weekend, thank you

Hi @ryanmontgo29452

Couldn't find the 2017 manual but here are some images from the 2016 manual, that shows what to do.

It seems that you do have to remove the boot (trunk) side trim panel to gain access.

Hi @ryanmontgo29452

The only other one I got is for the 2019 model so hopefully it is more relevant to your needs.
