Is there anyway to service the OEM fan bearing?

Long story short, the fan bearing for the fan is not stable. I've taken apart the computer and disconnected the battery and the fan.

Upon inspection, dust was removed and compressed air was shot into the fan to monitor the fan's ability to spin.

What was noticed was that the fan would begin losing stability as the RPMs increased, leading to believe the bearing was bad. Furthermore, applying light pressure on the sides of the fan showed that the fan was tilting about it's bearing.

At slower speeds, the fan works OK, but as it speeds up, it begins to smack into the fan's casing at higher speeds - causing an audible noise.

Is there any possible way to service the bearing? New part should be in order later, but in the meantime I can't bring my laptop to my school because the noise is so loud and disturbing.

@daanishhasan Your fan has more than bearing issues, sounds like the shaft is also worn out. I suggest that you wait until you get the replacement. A failed $20 dollar part can easily destroy your computer by letting it overheat.

Thanks. That’s probably a good explanation for why the fan can tilt left / right about the center axis. In the mean time I had the laptop* connected to a laptop cooling pad with external fans and monitoring the temperatures. They seem to stabilize below 70 Celsius but erring on the side of caution I will stop the use altogether. Thanks for your reply.

@daanishhasan I'd just wouldn't like to see your laptop having some sort of thermal failure that could have been prevented. It doesn't take long for temps to be high enough to either cause a shut down or melt the CPU/GPU :-)
