Can I replace the touch screen LCD but not the digitizer?

Hello; I’m planning on ordering a new touch screen LCD for my 3DS XL, yet I’ve come across a problem: it doesn’t come with the touch screen. Is it possible for me to use my old digitizer (which I believe controls touch, correct me if I’m wrong) with a new screen? Thanks!

@bentc yes you can, but it's a PITA. The touchscreen is glued to the LCD. Use this guide Nintendo 3DS XL Touchscreen Replacement to remove the display. Then you will have to "peel off" the digitizer. Use something like an exacto knife or similar and cut along the glue line between LCD and digitizer. Just don't break your screen......

Since you have not yet ordered a replacement, check the difference in cost between a complete display assembly and just a LCD. If the difference is not too much, consider purchasing the complete display. Saves you headache and time and almost guaranteed to work vs having to mess with the digitizer.
